Understanding the Opportunities Database

The Opportunities Database is powered by Interfase provided by CSO Solutions in Austin, TX. Hundreds of career services offices across the country use Interfase. The University of New Orleans Office of Career Development branded Interfase to reflect what it is for our students and alumni - an Opportunities Database.

What is contained in the Opportunities Database?
The following items are available in the Opportunities Database:

  • Job and Opportunity Postings
  • Resumes of UNO Students and Alumni
  • Career Events Registration Information
  • On Campus Recruiting Schedule Information
  • Employer Directories
  • Resume Books of currently registered students and alumni

What gets posted?
We post everything into the Opportunities Database - job listings, internship listings, career fairs at other locations, fellowships, temporary listings, etc.

How does our company register in the Opportunities Database?

You may be used to a system where there is one username and password for an entire organization. Well...that is unsafe and not very efficient. Someone could change information that you posted, you could have a New Orleans and a Baton Rouge office each changing information on top of each other, or you could have unique needs across your organization.

The Opportunities Database allows for multiple users linked to one company. The security is in place and each user acts as an independent even though they are linked to the same account.

Each company representative has a unique ID in our system. Just like a shared bank account, you and your family member may have one account where all the money is located, but you each have your own ATM card and PIN. There is no such thing as one login username and password for one entire company. We have multiple users from one company, from all across the United States.

The graphic below explains:

1. The Employer Record for ABC Company contains information that will not change over time such as the website address, company description, maybe even a special link on their website that includes career information. We maintain an Employer Record for each user of the Opportunities Database.

2. The individual contacts can be 1-1000+ all connected to the Employer Record, that's why each user must have their own username and password. For example, Phil in Accounting posts an internship once a year and he wants to get resumes sent to him directly. He has a record with his posting and his contact information (phone, email, address, etc). Jan in Shipping hires Temporary help in December and usually finds a couple of students to fill those positions. Mike in HR sets interview schedules and registers the campus recruiters for career fairs.

These are three users with three different needs. They all have their own username and password so they can use the system exactly as they need to. Additionally, if Phil in Accounting leaves the company, then only his access is deleted. We don't have to reset usernames or password for anyone else.

To Access the Opportunities Database for the first time:

1. Go to the Opportunities Database - Employer Login Page

2. If you do not have your OWN username and password, then click the link that reads "Click here to Register"

3. Search for your company in the database using the on screen instructions. This ensures that YOUR record is linked to the company record that already exists. If your company is not on our database, then you will create a company record and your OWN profile.

4. Complete the on-screen fields and Submit.

5. That's it!!!! You can start posting jobs immediately and/or sign-up for career fairs. You will not have access to student/alumni resumes until you are active in the system. We will activiate you once your job postings have been approved.

6. After you finish, you can logout of the system. The login is located on the top, left of every www.recruit.uno.edu website page.
